Shape the conversation
Computers in your pocket, instant communication across the globe, and AI: your grandparents couldn’t imagine the ways these advancements would change our lives, but you can’t imagine life without.
How we use the tools of technological advancement impacts the world around us and forms who we are as people, so isn’t it crucial to pay attention?
In the Digital Life Guild, practitioners and academics come together to consider and enact justice and ethics in a technological age. With development and change happening, it seems, faster than ever, it’s important to have engaged and thoughtful learners shaping the future of our technological spaces in ways that advance the flourishing of creation and society. Be a part of that community at Calvin with faculty and peers from across the university.
As a member of the inaugural Digital Life Guild cohort, you will:
- Complete up to four core course requirements with members of your cohort, starting with a CORE 100 section with others passionate about digital technology
- Interact with thought and practice leaders at Calvin and beyond in the fields of cyber security, justice, and ethics
- Study technological process, response, and innovation from scientific and humanities-based lenses through project-based learning and field trips
- Experience off-campus travel that expand your knowledge while expanding your networks and internship possibilities
- Develop new opportunities for engagement with the broader public around issues of digital technology
