Packages delivered to students living on campus will be scanned by mail services and routed to the dorm or Knollcrest Apartments. Once delivered, the deskies will again scan the package triggering an email notifying the the student that the package is ready for pickup at the residence lobby.

Important things to know about package delivery

Please take note of the following items as you submit your package inquiry form or contact us with a question about package delivery.

Start of Fall semester delivery

For the first few weeks of the semester (starting August 24th), all dorm package deliveries will be sent to Rooks-Van Dellen for pickup to alleviate the overcrowding in the individual deskie areas. KE will still have their packages sent to KE’s deskie.

Understanding the package delivery process

When packages are delivered to the Calvin Mail room each morning, they are scanned (as ‘received’) and sorted by the mail students and staff. (They get sorted into individual dorms, KE, and on-campus departments.)

That afternoon, they are loaded on to the vans and head out for distribution for the Departments, KE apartments and the dorm run.

Once they arrive at KE and the dorms–they are scanned again to be 'routed' to the deskie area of that dorm (typically the front desk). When the deskies arrive, they scan the packages to 'route' them to individual students–this generates the email from Qtrak to the students to alert them, that their package has arrived and is available for pick up at their deskie area.

Tracking letters

Letters cannot usually be tracked; they are sorted and brought over with the packages on the dorm/KE runs–but they are reliant on how the address is written to determine their accuracy.

Addressing letters and packages

When addressing your letters and packages, be sure to include the following information:

  1. Your name (first and last) – it should be the one that is listed on file for you here at Calvin. If you have a preferred name that differs from that name, please have that changed within the WorkDay system or Residence Life so that we can find you.
  2. Your dorm room and number – this is to help speed up the sorting process. If we don’t have to look to see what dorm you are in, we can quickly get your letters and packages to you.
  3. Calvin’s address – this is to make sure that the delivery services can get your mail and packages to us.
