"I'm honored. I didn't know what it all entailed to be Alumnus of the Year when I heard. I'm kind of a reserved person, but I'm honored."

Calvin junior Matthew DeVlieger talks about being named Northpointe Christian high school's 2011 Alumnus of the Year. DeVlieger returned to west Michigan to receive the award, marking his first trip home since he was paralyzed in a scuba diving accident in December 2009.
