C Club: Traditions Game

Save The Date: Saturday, February 14, 2015

C Club, the Calvin alumni network for varsity letter winners, is hosting the annual Traditions Game on Saturday, February 14, 2015. At half-time of the men's basketball game vs. Trine, we will be honoring the 1995–1997 women's soccer teams.

For those team members, we'll make the Spoelhof Fieldhouse available in the morning for you and your families to enjoy; host you for a celebrative lunch for reminiscing and a women's soccer update; and welcome you and your family into the Van Noord Arena hospitality suite for refreshments and watching the men's basketball game.

Help needed

In order to honor all the women of those teams, we need your help!

This is the list of known team members from those years with an asterisk to indicate teammates for whom we have no email address. Please contact us if you have email addresses or additional names for this list. Thank you!

The Calvin Alumni Association does not share emails with non-Calvin users. Any email addresses in our records will only be used for college or alumni communications.

The expectations for the 1996 women’s soccer season were high coming off an undefeated ’95 season. The addition of eight first-year players gave the depth needed to continue a winning tradition. We faced some of the toughest competition at the start of our season, competing against regionally ranked Wooster and Rhodes. Highlighting the season was traveling to Memphis, Tennessee and taking home a pair of victories and a lot of great memories. The weekend trip to Tennessee gave our team the experience and unity to come back and face the MIAA competition with confidence. We allowed only one tie and one loss as we went through the MIAA schedule. The race for first place was close all season between Calvin, Kalamazoo and Hope, but a 2-0 victory in our last game against Hope clinched our second MIAA championship in two years. Losing only three seniors, the women’s soccer team looks to pursue a third-straight MIAA championship in 1997.
