Campus farewell, preparation
As the campus prepares for the new president (with renovations to the DeWit Manor, for instance), the Calvin community gathered on Monday, June 25, to express their gratitude to Gaylen and Susan Byker.
Recently, renovations to Heritage Hall were completed. Read more about Project Construction and sustainability initiatives on campus, which include new light bulbs for North Hall.
Dice Mineralogy Museum
Speaking of building projects on campus, the new Dice Mineralogy Museum was recently completed.
Bruce Dice '48 believes his mineral collection, now housed on campus in the Dice Mineralogy Museum, is a tribute to the artist that created the exquisite pieces:
“When you see the beautiful things that God has created, you want to keep them in front of you and delight in them.”
Summer on campus
Beginning Monday, incoming students and parents will participate in the first PASSPORT summer program. When they come to campus, they learn about Calvin through activities and creative workshops that highlight the range of opportunities here.

John Calvin's 503rd Birthday
Everyone is welcome to celebrate John Calvin's 503rd birthday on campus, July 10, 2012.
Every year, the college celebrates the birthday of John Calvin on or around July 10. This tradition includes a 2-minute lecture given by "John Calvin" followed by birthday cake, of course!
Find out more about the H. Henry Meeter Center for Calvin Studies, a research center specializing in John Calvin, Calvinism, the Reformation, and Early Modern Studies, which hosts the birthday party.
Calvin professors of German, French and Chinese discuss how foreign language pedagogy has changed and how to teach a language Christian-ly.
Awards continue to come in for Division III National Volleyball Player of the Year Rebecca Kamp as she was recently named the Sheila Wallace-Kovalchik Scholar Athlete.
Three members of the Calvin men’s and women’s cross country and track and field teams have received Division III Capital One Academic All-America honors.
