Courses Available

  • Academic Transitions 111 (2 Hours): Nervous about the transition to college academics? Excited to learn as much as you can from university courses? Want to maximize your grade point average from day one? Academic Transitions will walk you through all kinds of practical skills you’ll need to thrive in college and the theory behind them: how to keep organized and stay motivated, how to take notes and read texts, how to study effectively and more. Mastering these skills before you start your first term at university will save you time, energy and worry. And, high school students that have taken this class report it was really valuable for the rest of their high school experience as well as their transition to college learning. This class is two credits and fits in well to a high school semester schedule.

  • Communication 101 (4 Hours): What is one of the top skills all employers look for in future employees? Effective oral communication. Being able to speak well in public also will help you in other courses, student and community groups, and in your church. In this course, you will learn the fundamental skills of oral rhetoric—how to create a message strategically adapted for a specific audience and situation. You will also learn how to effectively deliver your speeches and how to be an engaged, thoughtful listener.
  • Finance 201 (4 Hours): Personal finance is a specialized area of study focusing on individual and household financial decisions: How much should I save? How much should I spend? How much should I give?…decisions that impact our future economic well-being. Financial planning is a process of setting financial goals and organizing assets and making decisions to achieve these goals, in an environment of risk. This class will consider financial goals for Christians and will provide information and techniques to help students be good stewards of what God entrusts to them.

  • Each course is four credits (except ASC111 which is two credits)
  • Courses last for 16 weeks (a full semester)
  • Taught online, almost entirely asynchronously
  • Dual enrollment tuition is $350 per credit hour - Michigan students may qualify for a free course under the Postsecondary Enrollment Options Act
