Office for Multicultural Affairs

Ouch! that Stereotype Hurts Workshop - YOU'RE INVITED!

Staying silent in the face of demeaning comments, stereotypes or bias allows these attitudes and behaviors to thrive. This undermines our ability to create an inclusive workplace where all employees are welcomed, treated with respect and able to do their best work. Yet, most employees and leaders who want to speak up don't know how. So, we say nothing. The learning objectives for this workshop are to help participants: Understand the impact of stereotypes and biased statements, even when casually said;  Identify the most common reasons people sit silent in the face of bias and stereotypes; and  Enhance skills for speaking up against stereotypes without blame or guilt.

April "Talking Points"

It is our pleasure to offer Talking Points, a monthly newsletter from the Office for Multicultural Affairs. The purpose of Talking Points is to keep the Calvin community, and our stakeholders, abreast of the activities of the Office for Multicultural Affairs and to provide “talking points” about the campus’ progress toward becoming a campus that is anti-racist, multicultural, accountable, and reconciling.
