- "Teaching and Learning Cross-Culturally"
Summer 2011 Working Group Call for Participants - Members of the teaching faculty or any administrator with faculty status are invited to apply for a summer 2011 working group, "Teaching and Learning Cross-Culturally," which will address the need to increase awareness of the ways in which cross-cultural differences between international faculty, students, and administrators affect teaching and learning at Calvin College. For more information on the specific tasks the group will carry out, please read the working group's description.
- Participants will receive a stipend of between $500 and $750. [This is a FEN-related activity.]
- Applicants are invited to submit a cv, along with a brief (1-page) description of their qualifications for and interest in exploring issues of teaching and learning cross-culturally by May 18, 2011, to Sergio da Silva (Psychology), dasilvas@calvin.edu.

- Ever felt like you are a fish out of water in front of a classroom of Calvin coeds? Ever felt like your voice and body become stressed while you're teaching? Ever wondered how it is that that you could improve your teaching evaluations on your classroom presentation skills? These are areas where we can help! This three-day workshop will explore how you can more effectively use your voice and body in the classroom to remarkable improve your teaching. Calvin theater professor Stephanie Sandberg and certified voice trainer Elizabeth Terrel from Western Michigan University will work with you to improve your classroom presence. Through careful analysis and specific coaching, this team of experts will help you to increase your confidence in the classroom. - "Research and Scholarship Planning Workshop"
May 31, 2001 | 10:00 - 1:00 PM (Lunch to be provided) - If you are launching a new project, hoping to write a CRF or sabbatical proposal, seeking outside funding, preparing your reappointment dossier, or just thinking about how to link your research to your teaching, you may wish to participate in this 3-hour workshop. During the first half of the workshop, a panel of experienced faculty, grant-writers, proposal reviewers, and deans will share their thoughts on what is most important in planning and executing a research plan. During the second half, they will work with faculty participants to address questions and help individuals formulate specific plans. Lunch will be provided during the working time. Atomic Learning (AL) is an online technology training library that provides thousands of short, video tutorials on more than one-hundred of the most commonly used software applications. Atomic Learning can be accessed through Moodle, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week (24/7). To access Atomic Learning:
