The Japanese program at Calvin offers course options to fulfill core requirements in addition to a 42-credit major and two minors. One minor focuses on Japanese language study while the other combines language study with studies in culture.
The 42-credit hour Japanese major combines eight language courses with four courses in Japanese culture to ensure you get a full experience in the program. You can also enhance your program and fulfill major requirements by studying abroad through the Japan Center for Michigan Universities.
This 27-credit hour minor focuses solely on Japanese language study, though cultural perspectives are a part of these courses as well.
Japanese study minor
This 25-credit hour minor combines introductory language study with elective options in art history, history, political science and/or religion to expand your study of the Japan to its history, culture and religion.
