When launched in 1976, the Young Authors Festival sought to bring together young writers and readers with professional authors and illustrators. We were delighted at the response of schools and students. Although we have since added the Middle School and High School Writers Workshops that meet on another day, the Young Authors Festival continues to draw large numbers of first through sixth graders. In 2011, more than 1500 students came together to share their stories and to listen to professional artists talk about their work.
The enthusiastic response we've received in the past has affirmed our desire to continue this tradition. We encourage you to be a part of the next Young Authors Festival so that you can share similar experiences as we celebrate the joys of reading and writing.
