Events Calendar

Siblings Weekend is a tradition at Calvin University where current students welcome siblings (college-aged or younger) or others who they "love like a sibling" (e.g. cousins, etc.) to participate in a weekend of laughter, activities, friendship and the creation of great memories.

Of course, siblings can visit anytime, but Siblings Weekend is geared for school-aged guests and features a number of special events and activities!

Activities

• Craft time (Friday 6-8pm, Hekman Library/Commons Union lobby (near Peet's Coffee)
• Calvin Improv (Time TBD)
• Late Night "Eras Concert" featuring Calvin Capella and Women's Chorale - 150th Anniversary Event!
• Movie:  TBD (Friday 8:30pm, CFAC Recital Hall)
• Free "Pancake Party" breakfast (Saturday 9-10am, Hekman Library/Commons Union lobby (near Peet's Coffee))
  • (Pancakes and juice only)
• Tie-Dye Party (Saturday 10-Noon, Spoelhof University Center lower level - Art Department) - Bring your own white apparel for tie-dying (cotton recommended)!  White t-shirts will be available for sale at $5 each (supplies limited).
• Ecosystem Preserve Craft Time (Saturday 12:30-2:30pm at the Bunker Interpretive Center)
• Movie: "TBD" (Saturday 2pm, CFAC Recital Hall)
• Calvin Athletics (Saturday various times -- all events Free or included with registration)
  • Hockey tournament weekend at Eagles Ice Center
  • Women's Lacrosse (1-3pm, Soccer Stadium (outdoor))
  • Men's JV Basketball (1-3pm, VanNoord Arena)
  • Mens' Varsity Basketball (3-5pm, VanNoord Arena) - Rivalry game vs. Hope!
• Calvin Orchestra Concerto Concert - (Saturday 7:30pm, CFAC Auditorium)
• Open gym and fitness center (various times;  no open pool due to MIAA swimming championships)
• Residence Hall hanging out... (Saturday evening)

Registration

Register online to receive an official Siblings Weekend t-shirt (youth sizes S, M, L, and adult sizes S, M, L, XL, XXL) and a personalized Siblings Weekend ID card for free access to any/all of the Siblings Weekend events** for $20 per person. In addition, individual meals can be purchased (optionally) for $9 each (Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, lunch or dinner) or Calvin student can use guest pass swipes to pay for guests (per their plan limits).  Note: Optional free pancake breakfast on Saturday morning, 9-10am, sponsored by Alumni and Family Engagement, in the Hekman Library/Commons Union lobby (near Peet's Coffee).  One ticket per registered guest (and one ticket for each host) will be provided, upon request, for the Calvin-Hope Men's Basketball game (in reserved student overflow section).

Late Registration: Late/onsite registration is available in the Student Life Office on February 19-20 for an increased rate of $25 per person (and $10 optional meal tickets). Onsite registration includes a non-personalized ID card. T-shirt sizes may be limited, and basketball game tickets subject to availability.  Pay with a credit card.

Housing

Siblings 12 and under are welcome to stay in their Calvin host's room on campus regardless of gender, while older guests should have arrangements to stay in a same gender room (e.g. which might be with their host, or with a friend of their host, accordingly). Guests are subject to the same behavioral expectations as Calvin students, with desired curfews (and bedtimes!) the responsibility of the Calvin student host.

Billing Options

Siblings Weekend online registration requires a credit card as a form of payment. American Express, Visa, Master Card, and Discover Card.

Refund Policy

Except for extenuating emergency situations, registration fees are only refundable up to 7 days prior to the event. If you have any questions, please call the Student Life Office at (616) 526-6948 or email siblings-weekend@calvin.edu.

Confirmation

Upon completing the online registration process you will receive a receipt and a confirmation email. The week of the event you will also receive a reminder email with the confirmed schedule of events and information about packet and t-shirt pick-up.

*Note about Climbing Wall: Due a Climbing Competition on the same weekend, the climbing wall be available as a spectator opportunity only.
