New Year's Eve

I went shopping for the upcoming Orange River excursion in the early morning. I needed to purchase some items from the "kitlist," including large rubbish bags for waterproofing and snacks.

I spent the remainder of today working on a paper for an upcoming conference in May in Phoenix, Arizona. The title of the paper is "Learnable Lessons on Sustainability from the Provision of Electricity in South Africa." The paper is due on 10 January 2010, but I need to finish it now due to the Orange River trip and my flight home. I finished a draft of the paper at 17h00 then ate a quick dinner.

After dinner, I went to Koolbaai again. I was hoping to catch James and his buddies surfing, and I wanted to improve my photography technique. But there is a howling Southeaster that was ripping the tops off the waves, so nobody was in the water. Instead, I took a few sunset photos before driving home. See the photos below.

On the way home, I saw the blue moon (second full moon this month) that was experiencing a partial lunar eclipse.
