2013 Seminars

Sabbath Practices
June 17 - 21, 2013

Directed by: Dr. Mary S. Hulst, College Chaplain, Calvin College

Funds provided by the Center for Excellence in Preaching at Calvin Theological Seminary

Seminar Description

How can we practice Sabbath when our world values busyness? How can we practice Sabbath when our jobs are 24/7/365? How can we practice Sabbath when distraction is never farther away than a smartphone? How do we say no so that we can say yes? In this seminar, participants will not only read about the importance of spiritual rest and refreshment, but also be given space and time and quiet to actually enjoy it. Different ways of practicing spiritual rest will be taught and practiced throughout the week. It is the hope that each participant will leave restored, and also with good practices in place to maintain a life rhythm of rest and renewal.

Participants: Those engaged in full-time ministry. 5 years experience preferred, MDiv preferred (The MDiv is not always required in some cultures and churches. Adjustments can be made).
