STEP
Striving toward educational possibilities
April 25-27, 2013
At STEP, students currently in grades 7 & 8 are given three days of a real-life college experience as they:
- live in a residence hall with an assigned roommate
- attend college courses instructed by Calvin professors
- explore standardized tests and future career directions through interactive workshops
- eat in the dining halls and experience campus life with other academically motivated peers and with Calvin College students
- gather for singing, testimony, prayer and hearing God's word
Parents
An important focus of STEP is encouraging parents to get involved in a significant way in their child's educational goals. Parents of STEP participants are invited to attend a closing session on Saturday, April 27. Conference registration includes two complimentary tickets to the Saturday parent event. After registering your child for STEP, please reserve your place at the closing session by phone: 616-526-6749.
Application and fees
Students apply for acceptance to the STEP program, and will receive a letter after the application deadline regarding acceptance decisions. As part of their application, students will also be required to submit a recommendation from either a school professional or a church/community leader. The enrollment fee for the entire STEP weekend is $40 and is due upon acceptance to the program. The enrollment fee includes housing, meals and all activities and is non-refundable, except in the case of an emergency. In the event of a refund, a $10 administrative processing fee is required.
