Registration, Check-In
We ask that each family please "sign-in" and pick up a Family Weekend information packet at any one of the residence hall or KE reception desks, or at the Parent Oasis tent (Commons Lawn). Tickets ordered for Family Weekend events before October 11 will be mailed directly to your home; tickets ordered after October 11 may be picked up by you or your Calvin student at the Box Office (Fine Arts Center).

A parent & family hospitality center will be available under the white canopy tent on the Commons Lawn. Come and enjoy some Calvin hospitality, meet other parents and Calvin administrators, or come to just to sit and enjoy the day!

Open Classes
Parents have an opportunity to sit in on a class with their student. A printed schedule of classes that have open seats for visitors will be available at the residence hall reception desks. A listing of open classes is also available on this Web site.

Friday Hymnsing Chapel Service
Friday morning hymnsings provide an opportunity for a special time of community worship and praise. In addition to our Family Weekend guests we welcome "Fridays at Calvin" visitors, the Calvin Parent Council, and the Calvin Alumni Board.

12:30 - 3:30 pm Science Division Student Research Fair
This summer many Calvin students were involved in a wide variety of research projects. These students will present posters explaining their work and, as their schedules allow, will be present to talk about their research. Refreshments will be available.

Trolley Tour of Grand Rapids
Dick Harms, Curator of Calvin's Archives, and Carol Rienstra, Director of Community Relations, will narrate a tour of some areas of interest in downtown Grand Rapids (and some other areas as well). Seating is limited; first-come, first served. Tour repeated again at 2:30 pm.
Meet by the flagpole at the circle drive in front of (south of) the Spoelhof Center.

   
12:30 - 1:15 pm Family Weekend Sectional: Facebook 101: What happens on line, stays on line. Or does it . . .
Rick Zomer, associate dean of residence life and Kyle Sandison, Calvin senior, will discuss the Facebook.com phenomenon at Calvin.

1:15 - 2:00 pm Family Weekend Sectional: Learn about Calvin's new Spoelhof Fieldhouse Complex
Presentation and walking tour, lead by Professor Glen Van Andel (HPERDS), who was a member of the team that planned and designed the new athletic complex.
