Biography

Professor Lim was born in South Korea but completed all his undergraduate and graduate studies in the United States. He joined Calvin in 2018 after teaching at the American University in Dubai and Loyola University Maryland. In addition, he worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis during the recovery period following the Great Recession. During his time there, he played a crucial role in creating a set of briefing materials on the US economic conditions, which provided policy support for the Bank President and Board of Directors. Professor Lim and his wife, Eunice, have three children, all of whom enjoy playing soccer.

Academic interests

Professor Lim’s primary research area is international economic development, but his scholarly interests range widely across academic disciplines. His recent research interests lie at the intersection of economics and psychology. He has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals, focusing on the well-being of people living in underprivileged societies in Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia. He has also co-authored a book on the past, present, and future of the Middle Eastern economies.
