Sarah Sciba - Damaged Goods

July 12 - August 16, 2013

From July 12 to August 16, the Calvin College Department of Art and Art History is proud to present the work of Sarah Sciba in an exhibition entitled "Damaged Goods" at the (106) South Division Gallery.

In her exhibition statement, Sciba explains her work. "I spend much of my free time visiting a variety of thrift stores to collect damaged printed handkerchiefs, tarnished costume jewelry and other imitations from the recent past. These cast-offs inform my work by providing a context to explore themes of personal interest. The mass-production of these items appeals to me as a printmaker, while their obvious neglect appeals to me as the survivor of a dysfunctional childhood."
