Citing a Newspaper in MLA Format (Hide Help)

When you create a citation for a newspaper article, here is the information you need to include:
  • Author's Name
  • Title of Article
  • Title of Newspaper
  • Date
  • Edition (If Given in Masthead)
  • Page Number(s)
The masthead can be found at the top of the front page, and contains the title, date, and edition.

For American newspapers that are not well-known, add the city name (with optional state abbreviation).
