In this database you will find citation records for choral music stored in binders in Cayvan Services on the 2nd floor of the Hekman Library. The core of this collection is Calvin’s own choral music library of over 3,000 pieces. Calvin music faculty have also donated copies of the best choral works from their own personal libraries. They will continue to be the primary selectors for the CCMD. We have tried to select only music of the highest quality for this collection. The CCMD is directed primarily to students in choral conducting and area music teachers and choir directors, although the general public is welcome to use it.
The Help menus at the top right of the CCMD screens are context sensitive. Thus, you will find information on how to locate music on the results screen of a CCMD search.
Copyright Information
The Hekman Library will not interlibrary loan any music which is contained in the CCMD collection, nor will library staff make photocopies for patrons. Most of the music in the CCMD is commercially available through music stores and publishers and is copyrighted.
Patrons who access the collection in the library may make copies of music if the copyright has expired. Single copies of copyrighted music may be made for class presentations where face-to-face instruction occurs. This is within the Fair Use guidelines. Questions about music copying and copyright law should be directed to a librarian.

The Hekman Library would like to thank the Calvin Alumni Association, the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship, and the Calvin College Music Department for providing financial support for the development of this database. In addition, we are grateful to Mr. Merle Mustert, Chancel Choir Director at LaGrave Ave. Christian Reformed Church, and Dr. Kenneth Bos, Director of Music at Calvin Christian Reformed Church, for the generous use of their music libraries. Professor Merle Mustert applied for funding for the CCMD project in the Fall of 2000. Read more about Professor Mustert's work on the CCMD and his career at Calvin College.
