Sylvan Esso was formed with a desire for something new. Tired of “everyone being The Avett Brothers” in their hometown music scene in Durham, North Carolina, folk musicians Amelia Meath (Mountain Man) and Nick Sanborn (Megafaun) decided to do something about it. The resulting self-titled album sounds like a remix, preserving elements of both members’ former projects while twisting them into fresh and exciting territory.
