Barbados: Island in the Sun with Steve Gonser
Barbados emerged from the sea in the Caribbean Region less than one million years ago as the result of the collision of the North American and Caribbean plates. British rule carried on uninterrupted for 340 years before independence in 1966. Steve Gonser knows well this sophisticated tropical island with seemingly endless whitesand beaches and a rich West Indian tradition. In this film he shows the role of sugar plantations and rum on the island’s society, and many of the traditional arts and crafts of the deeply religious, generous, friendly and thoughtful people.
