Critical Incident Training Exercise

On August 18, 2011, Calvin College hosted a Critical Incident Exercise on the campus. In addition to Calvin's Campus Safety Department, participants were Federal, State, County and Local emergency responders.

Calvin College Campus Safety maintains an excellent relationship with area Police/Fire/Medical first responders and routinely trains with local law enforcement agencies and officers throughout the year. This training incident is just one of many ways Calvin Campus Safety prepares for the unexpected.

The Critical Incident Exercise on August 18th simulated a hostage incident with mass casualties. Calvin College's Faculty, Staff and approximately 50 students participated in the incident as actors and supporting personnel. The purpose of the exercise was to test the Calvin College Emergency Response Plan and provide the Campus Safety Department and other Police, Fire and Medical Responders an opportunity to train in an academic setting.
