5 -- This problem describes how cobweb plots are done by hand. You may use this applet (the computer you work on must be able to run java applets) to draw them. A couple of instructions: Use the slider on the right and watch the red equation in the bottom middle to adjust the k value until it hits 2.7. Then, to start the iteration at precisely x = 0.5, move the cursor to the middle of the screen and watch the box at the bottom right for your position. You want the button at the bottom to say Del Trans, and if it seems to be drawing only one stair step, click on the Iterate All button.

[*] -- (Continuation from the previous problem.) In problem 19 above the k value of 4 leads to a different kind of behavior than in problem 20 when k = 3.5. Use the applet to see the contrast between these two k values. Then adjust the k value little by little to estimate at what k value the behavior changes from the one type to the other.
