Read this section. Pay special attention to 2 things: 1) the procedure for constructing your own golden rectangle, and 2) the logarithmic spiral, and its look when compared to the shell of a chambered nautilus.

8 -- Counterfeit gold? Do this problem and then answer the following question: Is there any relationship between this problem, Exercise 5 from Section 2.2(I), and the fact that the ratio of Fibonacci numbers approaches 1.618 (the golden ratio) as you progress through the Fibonacci sequence?

Write a response to the question I posed at the end of class. That is, we have seen there is this number known as the golden section, which is approximately equal to 1.618. It seems to crop up in works of art, as well in nature. What might a non-Christian scientist say about this? How about a (not necessarily Christian) mystic? What do you think is an appropriate Christian response? Your paper should be typed, double-spaced, and at least one page in length.
