• John Caughman,

  a former office mate and fellow graduate of the University of Wisconsin--Madison and now a post-doc at Michigan State University gave a talk at our colloquium on November 19. During his talk he mentioned that you can earn money by solving a graph theory problem. (For details on that problem, follow the previous link. More information about graphs can be obtained from other resources also at Los Alomos at http://www.c3.lanl.gov/mega-math.)

Where I was before I was here:

• I spent the 1996-97 and 97-98 academic years in the Computer Scinece Department at Boston University where
  • I worked with a Theoretical Computer Science Research Group consisting of Steve Homer, Steve Fenner, Fred Green, and Marcus Schaefer.
  • I also taught Introductory Programming.
• In 1995-96 I was a special lecturer in the Mathematics and Computer Science Department at Providence College.
• I received my Ph.D. in 1995 from the Mathematics Department at the University of Wisconsin--Madison
• I spent 1990-91 at Universität Heidelberg on a Fulbright Scholarship.
• I received my B.A. in 1988 from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI. I majored in German as well as mathematics.
