The systematic application of Maxwell's Equations to electromagnetic radiation, including the interaction of light with matter, electromagnetic wave propagation, polarization, interference and diffraction. Includes a study of technologically significant systems such as wave guides, optical filters and fibers, laser cavities, and some electro-optical technologies.
