Robertson

This is the view of Robertson from the summit. We were 1520 m above sea level (almost 1 mile). For comparison, Table Mountain is only 1080 m above sea level. This was a lovely place to see the entire Koo valley.

One of the towns in the valley is Robertson. Our companions all oohed and ahhhed at the vista. But, I said to Tracy, "I can see apartheid." If you look carefully, you can see that the central part of the town is green and filled with trees. Then, the surrounding valley is filled with farms. Between the central area and the farms lies apartheid's townships. If I had to guess, I would expect that a coloured township is between Robertson and the camera. The black township is on the far side of Robertson. It is smaller, triangular in shape, and climbs up the side of a small hill. The industrial area of the town is on the right of the central area.
