Fruit and Veg and Cricket

Catherine's daycare went to fruit and veg place today. They picked, you guessed it, fruits and vegetables. According to the daycare folks, it was quite a good time. Catherine told us she picked tomatoes but didn't like them.

Mark had his first cricket match today. The opponent was Eikestad Laerskool, an Afrikaans primary school that is next door to Rhenish. The venue was the Idas Valley Sports Ground on the North side of Stellenbosch. He's on the Rhenish "B" team, and the "B" team players are rotated through the roster for various matches. Today was Mark's first opportunity to play in a proper match.

At this age, Mark plays "mini-cricket." In this form of the game, each player bats for 6 bowls (one over), and each player bowls one over. There are 8 players, so a complete game consists of 48 bowls to each team. The whole affair lasts just under an hour.

Mark really made the most of it. He took two wickets: while fielding, he caught a ball; while bowling, he hit the stumps once. He struggled to make contact while batting, but that may improve with additional practice. Rhenish won by more than 40 runs.

I took lots of nice photos. See them below.
