Departure 1

As I write this, Tracy, Mark, and Catherine are in a plane headed for Washington, D.C. They departed from the shiny and new Cape Town International Airport at 14h10 today. They had been scheduled to depart at 14h30, but the flight was cancelled. Luckily, we arrived at the airport early enough that the flight change wasn't an issue.

I spent the rest of the day organizing the house on my own, which was rather depressing. All of our stuff is now in piles:

* To the U.S.: Stuff that needs to be packed in my suitcases. I'm overweight, so I need to buy a new piece of luggage tomorrow.

* To Rescuers: Stuff that goes to Catherine's daycare, including toys, extra diapers, wipes, etc.

* To Kayamandi: One of the people Tracy interviewed this year has a 1-year-old daughter. Many of the clothes Catherine outgrew this year (which is a LOT) will be headed to them.

* To church: The "book nook" at our church will be the recipient of many of the extra books we collected during this year. The créche will gain a few toys and stuffed animals.

* Storage: I've decided to store some of the stuff we've accumulated over the year in the event we come back for a long period of time. This pile includes a basket of office supplies, some kitchen stuff, etc. I'm not sure where the box will go yet, but I have a few options. I need to pick up some boxes tomorrow for this purpose.

* To the owners: The owners of our rented home will receive a few items that sort-of go with the house.

Now, I need to sort out our finances.
