Crocodiles

Le Bonheur Crocodile Farm was our afternoon destination today. Similar to a beef cattle operation, they breed crocodiles for their meat and hides. It was a crazy place: frightening because of the very close proximity to extremely dangerous animals and disgusting due to the crowded and dirty conditions.

We learned lots of interesting facts, though:

* Crocs exist to clean water of dead animals.

* You can get over 40 kinds of bacterial infections from a crocodile bite.

* Crocs can run faster than humans.

* You should run in a zigzag path if you're being attacked by a croc, because it wastes more of the croc's energy.

* Crocodiles are afraid of anything larger than them. So, you can walk among juveniles: they part like the Red Sea.

Mark invited his school friend Lucian to join us. They were both fascinated and frightened by the experience!

Lots of photos below.

Catherine did an experiment today: no nap. By all accounts, the experiment was a failure. She was exhausted and miserable by the end of the evening. Oh well: she'll sleep like a baby tonight.
