Chess, Party(ies), and Fever

Today was a very busy day for us. Mark and I went to an all-day chess tournament in Paarl. Today's tournament was the first half of the process to determine players to represent the Boland region in an upcoming province-wide event. Mark did quite well, winning 4 of 6 matches against various opponents. Lots of pictures with additional commentary below.

Catherine and Tracy went to a birthday party for Danielle (a friend from her daycare).

Then, this evening, Catherine spiked a rather high fever (104 °F). Nothing a dose of Ibuprofen couldn't handle, but still a bit scary.

The fever caused a bit of disruption as Tracy and I were planning to attend a braai and 60th birthday party for a friend (Louis) while the kids were at a babysitter. Now I'm home with the kids, and Tracy is at the party. That's the breaks sometimes.
