Beach Campsite, Orange River

This image was originally taken on 2010-01-06. I like it because:

* Composition: The image is divided into pleasing thirds (sky, rock face, river and beach.

* Color: The warmest color of the image (the rock face) is also the warmest thing in the scene. The rock face bakes during the day and radiates its heat back at the campsite. A warm wind blew all night long.

* Timing: I snapped this photo as the rising sun reached the base of the rock face, but before the sun hit the river. I wanted to keep the sky and rock bright and minimize the visual impact of the boats, people, and tent. I think it worked.
