I took a photo of another of my workplaces today: the entrance to the Engineering Building at CPUT-Cape Town. I also took a snapshot of Lion's Head as viewed from the parking lot.

Instead of my regular Monday research meeting, I had a conversation with Ian, Greg, and KK about experiences at CPUT-Cape Town, CPUT-Bellville, and the University of Stellebosch. South Africa is using the technical universities to do development (the CPUT Mission Statement says as much), but that causes tensions and conflicts that are still to be resolved. I see CPUT as a work in progress with many transitions happening at once: technical college to research university; serving a narrow segment of the population to serving a wide swath of the citizenry; and two distinct institutions merging into a two-campus university. The challenges are huge, and it will be a work in progress for decades.

Tracy completed the first draft of her second research paper. She's pretty happy about that.

Mark went to school and did errands with me after his school.

Catherine went to daycare today and had Playball.

I added a new photo to the Best of the Best gallery.
