Competitive
Writing is a collaborative installation with Justin Quinn. Participants
play ping-pong using paddles and balls assigned letters. Quinn and Wolpa
stamp corresponding letters onto screen printed pads according to the game
and calling changes. A soundtrack of a ping-pong game plays and sounds remarkably
like a typewriter. Themes considered: language, printmaking, interactivity,
and the gift. Participants are encouraged to enjoy the experience on a visceral
level, perhaps even facing camp champ, Snitzer.
