Behind the town is "the steam valley" that includes this small geyser. Iceland's Christmas tradition includes 13 mischievous "Christmas Trolls" (aka the Yule Lads) who play tricks the 13 days after Dec 25, one troll per day. This geysir is named after their nasty mother.
