Words of Wisdom About Worship

Wisdom about worship can come in the long chapters of eloquent books, or in the choice words of a succinct sentence or two. Both forms of wisdom are found in Neal Plantinga and Sue Rozeboom’s Discerning the Spirits, from which the first WOWAW was taken:
Remember, worship is going on all the time in heaven, and when we worship we are joining that which is already happening, what has been called the communion of the saints.

-John Wimber, from Worship: Intimacy with God, quoted in Discerning the Spirits

We post these quotes each week in the Worshipers category of our Worship Weblog for worship leaders and all worshipers to reflect on as they ponder the purpose of worship. We encourage worshiping communities to use these quotes, with proper attribution to the speaker, in bulletins, newsletters, committee meetings, devotions, sermon notes, e-mails, and church websites.
