Gracious God,
your vision of peace and wholeness
comes to us in sweeping revelations
and in tiny signs of hope.
Kindle our hearts, that we might be a hopeful people.
Keep us from growing weary of waiting
so that we do not miss the glory of your appearing.
Even so, come quickly, O God. Amen.

Vertical Habits
When children are young, they learn words that build relationships. Some come easily: "Help!" "Why?" But parents and grandparents persistently teach them to say to others: "Thank you." "I'm sorry." We celebrate as these words become habits, patterns in their relationships.
These same words shape our relationship with God. In partnership with congregations and schools across North America, in a program called "Vertical Habits," we explored how a basic relationship vocabulary can help all worshipers engage more deeply in worship. Find resources and reflections from leaders in a variety of worshiping communities.

Singing the New Testament: No greater text than scripture for worship songs
Words set to music sink in more deeply than plain text does. And that's why the new hymnal Singing the New Testament is important.
These hymns, based on specific biblical verses or clusters of verses, will help lodge New Testament verses in worshipers' hearts and minds. Once inside us, sung Scriptures can reinforce sermons and provide food for thought worth far more than most mass media. Through the Spirit's work, this new hymnal can form our worship and lives.

A World of Worship: Biblical, Global, Multi-Ethnic
Meadows Baptist Church
Plano, Texas
January 16-17, 2009
We’ll explore a biblical perspective on multi-ethnic worship, global mission, and the local church. The event is for pastors, worship leaders and musicians, and anyone interested in the topics. We’ll discuss foundational principles of biblical worship, multi-ethnic expressions of worship that will help us welcome and reach out to the mosaic of ethnicities in our communities, and how to draw from the rich diversity of worship expressions around the world to enrich our own North American worship practices.
