Campus Ministry Mission Statement
Campus ministry seeks to help students grow into well-rounded individuals, equipped with keen minds, compassionate hearts and caring hands. Campus ministry opportunities aren't a break from the classroom-they extend the classroom across campus, into the community and around the world. The mission of campus ministry at Northwestern is lifelong spiritual formation through study, worship, prayer and service-both as individuals and in community.

There are as many ministry opportunities as there are student interests and passions: Students can join discipleship groups, multicultural ministries, worship teams and service teams. Christians are to be Christ's hands and voice in the world. Campus ministry at Northwestern College is a great place to start.

Chapel
Chapel meets from 10:05 to 10:30 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and from 11:05 to 11:55 a.m. on Tuesdays.

Chapel services are a welcome break-we call it a mini "Sabbath"-in the academic schedule of the day. It is the only time each week that most of the campus community is together in one place.

Chapel at Northwestern is about listening to God's call to

- be his children
- be Christian scholars at NWC
- discover a lifelong vocation
- learn about God's word
- be encouraged and not afraid.

Chapel guests include nationally known speakers like Tony and Bart Campolo and Brenda Salter-McNeil, as well as Northwestern faculty, staff and students.

Students are expected to obtain 3 chapel credits each week; 5 credits or more are offered weekly. Many students earn more chapel credits than they are required to.

Sundays
There is a directory for local churches on the website.

Northwestern's Sunday night (9 pm) Praise & Worship has become one of Orange City's most popular worship services.

There are many ways for students to get involved in worship ministry.

- Worship interns assist with chapel service planning, seeking ways to integrate the arts (music, theatre, visual arts, written and spoken word) more fully into chapel worship.

- Chapel worship team members participate in chapel worship services, particularly during Tuesday chapel. The ensemble of vocalists and instrumentalists leads hymns and praise songs. There also is opportunity for students on this team to provide special music, lead in prayer, read Scripture and manage PowerPoint® presentations.

- Sunday night Praise & Worship team members lead worship in Christ Chapel at 9 p.m. every Sunday night. The team includes vocalists and musicians to play guitar, piano, bass, drums and keyboard.

- Church worship teams (2) travel to lead worship for local and regional congregations twice a month. Church worship teams are a great opportunity for music ministry majors and other students who love music to get experience planning and leading worship, while also serving the needs of area congregations.

Vocare: Find Your Place is a Northwestern College project funded by a $2 million grant from the Lilly Endowment. "Vocare" is a Latin verb that means "to call" and communicates specifically a call from God. Vocare's many initiatives all have as their common goal helping Northwestern students discover and then commit to their calling-to find their place. Vocare seeks to help students better integrate their academic, spiritual and co-curricular learning and experiences while at Northwestern into a map that directs them to a future in which they can use their gifts to meet the world's needs.
