1. Introduction
Background
Who does what? (singers, players, planners, prayers, multiple roles)
Overview
2. Opening Worship
• Example Scripture: Matthew 15:1-9
• Song: “The Heart of Worship”
Matt Redman © 1997 Thankyou Music (admin. by EMI Christian Music Publishing)
• Prayer: Based on the lyrics of “The Heart of Worship”
3. What Is Worship?
• Story about Matt Redman writing the song, “The Heart of Worship”
(See September 2005 issue of Worship Leader Magazine, pp. 32-33)
• Worship is…
• Not only about songs
• Not about the right ordering of elements
• Not simply an opportunity to learn, to have an aesthetic experience, to generate an emotion, or to be inspired
• Worship includes these things, but ultimately it is about a relationship with God through Jesus Christ
• Example: Cultivating a healthy marriage relationship:
My wife and I have dinner every night.
Important things to say on a regular basis:
You look really nice… I'm sorry…I'm listening…
All of you have ideals about who want your future spouse to be.
Imagine sitting with him or her at dinner:
What would be some good things to say to make your relationship healthy?
Around the table, compile a list.
4. Planning Worship
• One way to plan worship is to identify habits and build the service around that
Brainstorm around the table: “What can I do for you?”
Themes, songs and scriptures
The longer time of worship you have, the more habits you can include:
Order at LOFT: I love you, I'm sorry, thank you, I'm listening, Help, What can I do for you ? Praise you!
• Worship Planning Grid:
