Mission
The purpose of Concordia College is to influence the affairs of the world by sending into society thoughtful and informed men and women dedicated to the Christian life.
Campus Ministry encourages the Concordia community to root itself in the gospel of Jesus Christ through Word and sacrament, nurture mutual growth in faith and intellect, and cultivate Christian love and justice, so we may bear fruit here and throughout the world.
Our worship is centered in the Word and Sacraments and grounded in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our services are marked by lively preaching, music and liturgy.
Why worship? As creatures of God, it is our calling to praise God. We need to worship God. Through worship our daily lives are connected to a more profound reality.
Our worship at Concordia is:
- Confessional - faithful to the creeds of the church and the Lutheran Confessions
- Liturgical - employing ancient and modern liturgies
- Biblical - based on Scripture as a source and norm of life
- Evangelical - bringing the Gospel to the world
- Mission-Oriented - committed to transforming the world to the Gospel
- Inclusive - showing hospitality to the whole community
- Contextual - attentive to our context for ministry
- Global - welcoming the stories, music, needs and gifts of the world
Chapel
Monday-Thursday, 9:50 AM - 10:15 AM
We strive to keep a healthy and inclusive balance in our Chapel Worship through the following pattern of services; these are flexible for special events or guests.
Monday - contemporary music day, with one of the worship bands
Tuesday - more liturgical and traditional, often with a cantor, choir or other ensemble
Wednesday - more variety of form, often featuring the Concordia Concert Choir
Thursday - student chapel day
Last Wednesday of the Month - Morning Communion, with a special invitation to the whole community to attend. These Wednesdays students plan and lead a worship service at 10 PM in the Centrum.
Sundays
Morning worship services are held on Family Weekend, Homecoming Weekend, Church Youth Days, and Baccalaureate. Many students are involved in local congregations, where they attend worship, teach Sunday School, work with youth groups, sing in choirs, and serve as organists.

Call to Serve Project: Our Mission, Our Heart [funded by the Lilly Endowment]
To listen. To ask. To Seek. To Experience. There are many ways to learn and grow. Our goal, through the Call to Serve Project, is to share, provide resources, and seek out various ways for people to discover a strong sense of vocation-to put ones' work and ones' life in a bigger picture.
At the heart of this picture is our purpose as a liberal arts college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America: "The mission of Concordia College is to influence the affairs of the world by sending into society thoughtful and informed men and women dedicated to the Christian Life."
