Chapel
During the school year, students, faculty and staff are encouraged to gather for worship daily. We follow a weekly pattern of types of services, and these are led most often by people within the Calvin community. Our worship incorporates prayer, singing, scripture reading, various creative arts, and testimonies of God's faithfulness.
Chapel services are every day, Monday-Friday, 10:00-10:20 a.m.
During this coming year, the theme for our worship is "Growing in Wisdom." You can read more about how we will follow this theme throughout the year.
Sunday
The LOFT-Living Our Faith Together-is a contemporary service with a sense of history, passionately led by a team of students and by local preachers:
musically excellent, intellectually rich, emotionally honest, tradition-honoring, God-glorifiying. We meet each Sunday evening in the chapel at 8 p.m.
Highlights
The website includes links to monthly schedules for chapel services and archives of chapel highlights, including mp3s of some chapel messages. There are also archives of LOFT messages.
The worship area of the site provides resources for worship planning, with our "Principles and Practicals," sample services, and lists of scriptures and songs centered on particular themes.
There are also resources for Bible study and prayer groups, for vocational retreats, for mentoring opportunities and occasions for service-learning. The prayer pages offer tips and examples as well as maintaining an on-going log of prayer requests.
The "Faith" pages also illuminate the Worship Apprentice, Barnabas Team, and Jubilee Fellows programs, some of the initiatives of the Lilly Vocation project at Calvin.
