The St. Olaf Conference on Worship, Theology and the Arts was held at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, from July 15 to 19, 2002. The worship services during the conference followed a Passion Week theme, as can be seen in the pictures below:

Palm-waving worshipers walk in the Palm Sunday procession.  The altar is dressed in purple for the Maundy Thursday communion service.

(Above left)  Pastors Bruce Benson and Jennifer Anderson Koenig greet palm-waving worshippers in the Palm Sunday procession. The congregation gathered outside across the plaza to prepare for the procession to the chapel. As we approached the crowd, we were given palms, pistachios, pita bread pieces, and programs, by students acting like roadside vendors—“Get your palms, pistachios, pita and programs!” The palms were for waving, and the pistachios and pita for eating. It was very festive. The greeting and gospel reading were done there on the plaza.

(Above left)  The cross lays against the stripped altar at the close of the Good Friday service. The cross was carried in on a man’s shoulder; he stopped every few pews for the pastors walking behind to offer prayers.
