The Liturgical Year: Themes and Environment
Joyce Ann Zimmerman, C.PP.S.
Worship Renewal Grants Colloquium
June 20, 2007

Adorning a worship space according to the seasons of the liturgical year should be done with simplicity and symbolism. Avoiding the tendency to overload a space can help visuals communicate more clearly. And what they communicate is nothing less than the story of Christ, as the liturgical year follows the journey of Christ from manger to cross to crown.

This presentation began with theological foundations for understanding the Christian year, and proceeded with a series of slides showing how the Christian year is celebrated in two different liturgical environments.
