Sample Music Job Descriptions

Also see online listings from the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship for worship-related job postings.

As more and more churches hire worship coordinators and directors of music, they are also writing job descriptions. Occasionally we receive requests for sample job descriptions. We have collected six different job descriptions that you are welcome to tailor to your own situation. A good job description can serve as a road map for the person entering the position and for others who engage in the process of worship planning and leadership. As you prayerfully consider your needs, you will note that in each of these descriptions, the work is more than a list of tasks. It is also about serving, shepherding, mentoring and enabling others to use their gifts. As a search committee or worship team, you may wish to read Planning and Leading Worship as a Pastoral Task.
