Presenter

Nancy Ammerman is Professor of Sociology of Religion at Boston University's School of Theology. She has spent much of the last decade studying American religious congregations. Her many writings include Pillars of Faith: American Congregations and their Partners; Congregation and Community; and Bible Believers: Fundamentalists in the Modern World.

In 1993, Dr. Ammerman served on a panel of experts convened by the U.S. Departments of Justice and Treasury in light of the government's confrontation with the Branch Davidians at Waco, and she testified on the same subject before the Senate Judiciary Committee in 1995. In 1997, she lectured in Israel under sponsorship of the U.S. State Department.
