Preaching Epiphany: “Do you see what I see?”

I tended to preach the gospel texts of the lectionary in Epiphany. It was a wonderful way of “showing” Jesus. I’d do a series on illumination, about how different folks lit up to the reality of Jesus as Messiah. Or a series titled “Do you see what I see?” about the hidden Messiah idea in Mark. Or a series called “Open Our Eyes,” and we would sing that song as our prayer for illumination before the reading and preaching of the word. So many great images to play with during this season: light, seeing, revelation, belief, the invitation to all nations…oh, epiphany is good preachin’.

Arise, shine! For your light has come!

This site has great info about this new liturgical season, written by Dennis Bratcher.
