Gentle, calm and funny, Alison Adam can coax the most reluctant warbler to sing out from the pews.
The longtime member of the Iona Community in Scotland, which promotes spirituality and wholeness through congregational singing, visited Calvin College recently.
“You talk to people, and they say, ‘I can’t sing,’” she said. “They don’t believe in their voices.
“You tell them by your manner that you believe in (their singing ability).”
