The primary academic objective of this Interim is to gain firsthand knowledge and understanding of how racial injustice has been encountered in political and industrial contexts. Students will explore - in readings, classes, and visits - South Africa's apartheid past, the struggles for and painful miracle of its democratic transition, and the political-economy of the mining industry where interactions of politics, business, and race are poignant.

Honduras is a beautiful country. If you are already there, don’t miss the chance to visit Guatemala and Nicaragua. It’s really cheap to go there and you are not going to regret.

I hope that some day you come to visit us in Chile.
