working, rafting, and world cup watching

Well, it has been a busy couple of weeks here at the Ranch. When we aren’t working—which may be checking in guests at the Front Desk, assembling picnic tables with Building and Grounds, leading hikes or handing out roller skates for Programs, serving up lattes at Cafe Diem or grilling burgers at the Buckboard Grille, cleaning rooms with Housekeeping, or dozens of other varied tasks—there is tons to do out here. Here is just a taste of what the LCI crew has been up to the past few weeks:

Among the staff here is a large number of International Students. This includes about 15 from Brazil—naturally, watching the World Cup with them was quite an experience.

Of course we’ve been hiking a lot—both onsite here at SMR and in surrounding areas, including Rocky Mountain National Park.

But that isn’t all. Roller skating at the Kiva, pizza at Hernando’s, watching the sunrise at Columbine point, shopping in Denver, Salsa dancing lessons from a Chilean co-worker, whitewater rafting, the Alpine Slide in Winter Park, small group Bible studies… the list goes on! Basically, with 40+ hours of work a week and countless things to do, there is never a dull moment at Snow Mountain Ranch.
