Troubles.

Wednesday, January 11, 2006

Thanks to the miracle of Internet radio, you can hear our own Ken Heffner on Steve Stockman’s radio program (or should I say programme?), “Rhythm and Soul,” which broadcasts every Sunday on BBC Radio Ulster. Just click the “listen on demand” link to hear the January 8 show.

Ken is in Northern Ireland this month with his wife Gail, where they’re leading a gaggle of Calvin students through the intricacies of “the Troubles.” Their guides are Stocki himself, a great friend of our office and a celebrated author, and Justin Zoradi, who interned here in SAO last year and currently works with Steve at Queens University in Belfast. The group is learning about the difficult, fragile process of reconciliation and peacebuilding in a country that remains divided, and those on the trip are blogging about it daily.
